Making Sure Your PC is Secure Before Trading Online
Thanks to innovations and advancements in today’s technology, some of our daily practices can now be accomplished from home. Take online courses and distance learning as an example. Because of today’s blazing internet speeds and remote teleconference tools, students and educators can connect relatively easily and talk to each other. However, cyber threats towards unsuspecting individuals have also become more sophisticated, elaborate, and destructive. In 2020, it was reported that ransomware demands have increased globally by 80% — costing Canadian individuals and organizations hundreds of millions of dollars. This rise in cyberattacks is especially alarming to those whose livelihood depends on remote programs and applications, like online traders. Full-time traders use online brokerages, which allow them to buy or sell investment vehicles like bonds, stocks, and ETFs using their computers and other devices at home. Indeed, this has become the more convenient and accessible option. However, online brokerages also come with the risk of digital theft if traders aren't careful to secure their devices. That being said, here are some ways to ensure your PC is secure before trading online. Use a VPN While many online brokerages will give you assurance that their platform is secure and resistant to cyber threats, it’s still recommended that you safeguard your internet connection by using a VPN. Essentially, a VPN will protect your identity and browsing information from hackers and other snoops by encrypting the data your computer sends and receives. This is even more important if you decide to trade online using a non-private Wi-Fi connection, where you have no control over its security. Update Your Software As aforementioned, cyber threats have become more advanced and sophisticated over the years. If you fail to update your software on a regular basis, you may be exposing your precious data. No matter how monotonous the updates are, they are a necessity because they patch software vulnerabilities. So, don’t skip any software updates when you get a notification, especially for vital trading and PC software — including your browser, antivirus program, multimedia platforms, document viewers, and other online brokerage applications. Use Strong Passwords The importance of a strong password cannot be overstated. In many cases, passwords are often the weak spot that allows cyber criminals to infiltrate an organization’s security structure. In online trading where your hard-earned money and investments are on the line, it is critical that you choose a strong password. If you find it difficult to create or remember complex, but secure, passwords, download a password manager as a solution. This can generate long and complex passwords, which can be stored in an encrypted container so you won’t need to memorize every character or write it down. In doing so, you can safeguard your investments and money from scheming hackers. Install Anti-Malware Software One of the main methods cyber criminals use to take advantage of vulnerable computers is through malware. In a nutshell, malware is a program that’s specifically designed to wreak havoc on a computer, client, computer network, or server. Once this enters your PC, the password to your trading and other financial accounts may be stolen by cybercriminals. Thankfully, anti-malware programs such as Malwarebytes and Kaspersky exist as a preemptive solution to block them from entering your computer system and doing any harm to your online trading career. Like we said, you put your hard-earned money at stake when you decide to pursue a career in online trading. To make it worth the risk, make sure to eliminate the cybersecurity dangers that come with online trading. Practice basic cybersecurity measures and heed the tips we’ve listed above. via Blogger https://ift.tt/3q1y68D June 16, 2021 at 12:21PM Partner
This video is to show you how to use a Github project, helloxz/onenav, to create your own Bookmark navigation website to share your collections to the world. I was looking for a convenient way to share and access the website collections easily, also have some privacy for my own stuff. I did a bit translation for web gui and saved into my own Docker Image at johnyan2/51nav. In this video, you will find the step by step guide to create your own bookmark navigation website under your domain. Create Your Own Bookmark Navigation Website Using Docker
This post is to introduce a docker image which can give you a simple and easy way to create your own bookmark navigation website. It is based on XiaoZ blog's onenav. I made a translation for most of web pages and saved into my own docker hub image repository. Still working on but would like to share this excellent Bookmark Management tools to you.
Onenav has following features:
Original Github : https://ift.tt/39pPaNr You can find more information from the Github page. This post will focus on deployment process and how to use Portainer to do that, also how to integrate with own domain which is managed by Cloudflare. Environment Requirements
Please check post: https://blog.51sec.org/2021/05/docker-dockercompose-portainer-nginx.html
Here are some commands we will need to use: (using Ubuntu 20.04 as an example)
Check System Public IP:
[root@OCP1-Ubuntu ~]# curl https://ip.51sec.org/api
132.145.100.226
Update system to latest:
[root@OCP1-Ubuntu ~]# apt upgrade -y && apt update -y
If your host environment memory is less than 1GB, you might also want to add 1024MB swap file size using following command:
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/51sec/swap/main/swap.sh && bash swap.sh
Install Docker on Ubuntu 20.04:
#Ubuntu 20.04
sudo apt install docker.io
Install Docker Compose on Ubuntu 20.04:
#Ubuntu 20.04
sudo apt install docker-compose
Make following firewall ports opened on your VPS's firewall: 80, 443, 8100, 9000. Port 8100 and 9000 can be closed after completed deployment.
Deploy it Using PortainerPortainer Installation
Please make sure your VPS's firewall port 80, 443 and 9000 has been opened. We can close 9000 later.
[root@OCP1-CentOS8-Aria-Rclone-Portainer ~]# docker volume create portainer_data
portainer_data
[root@OCP1-CentOS8-Aria-Rclone-Portainer ~]# docker run -d -p 9000:9000 --name portainer --restart always -v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock -v portainer_data:/data portainer/portainer-ce:latest
Verify Portainer from Internet by visiting http://<VPS's Public IP>:9000
Using Portainer to Deploy Docker Run Deployment
docker run -itd --name="onenav" -p 8100:80 \
-e USER='admin' -e PASSWORD='password' \
-v /data/onenav:/data/wwwroot/default/data \

This is second part of the video to show you how to create your own cloud downloading website in your own VPS and store your downloaded files to your own cloud drive. In previous video (https://youtu.be/ewquhq_MjWc), I already show you how to bring a basic Aria2/AriaNG site up in a docker environment. In this video, I am using Google Drive as an example to mount it local with rclone's configuration. You also can use other cloud storage drive as your storage place since Rclone can connect to 42 different web cloud drives. Most of software has been packaged into a docker container, which you can find from Github site: wahyd4/aria2-ariang-docker In my video, I used Nginx as reverse proxy and used Portainer to manage those dockers. Convert Cisco ASA Firewall Show Run Configuration File to Excel
It is not always to have ASDM access to your ASA files. Sometimes, you only got show run configuration files to check the rules, which is big pain for searching and filtering the rules you want to check. I did find a easy way to convert ASA run configuration files to Excel spreadsheet for searching,filtering and reporting using a third party software tool , Wallparse Firewall Autdit tool from https://ift.tt/3ie2ryO. Main Features for this software: DownloadRunFrom File menu to select Open config-file.. Choose your Cisco ASA Show Run Configuration file to open. Here is an example for what you will get. It will parse all your interfaces, objects, groups, nat fules, and firewall rules. It covers most of important configurations for your asa and provide it a intuitive way to show you. If you know SQL language well, you can directly search and filter from this application. Or we can export it to a CSV file and let Excel handle it. Export to CSV fileImport it into Excel
From Excel's Data tab, choose From Text:
Follow wizard and click Next until Finish.
You will get all columns with firewall rules data into your Excel. Header for each column will have to manually add in though.
